Diet

These opportunistic predators wait for food source such as small rodents and birds to cross their paths and then strike.

Lifecycle

Females lay 4-6 leathery eggs where the female incubates them under ground for roughly 60 days. Parental care of the eggs ends once they hatch, and the female leaves the offspring to fend for themselves.

The name "ball python" refers to the animal's tendency to curl into a ball when stressed or frightened.
