DIET

In the wild, their diet consists primarily of termites. In captivity, they feed on crickets, cockroaches, and mealworms and are also known to eat small mice and lizards.

LIFECYCLE

Females give live birth to an average of 12 baby scorpions or scorplings at once.

INTERESTING FACTS

Emperor Scorpions are largest species of scorpion in the world, with adults averaging about 8 inches. This scorpion’s sting, although toxic, has varying effects on humans; some report no problems while others suffer severe pain. Emperor scorpion venom contains a toxin called imperatoxin.
